A One-Stop Hub for Wholesale Local Food
Field to Family makes it easy for institutional customers to order a diverse selection of products from a variety of producers. We work with early care centers, K-12 schools, grocery stores, retirement communities, colleges, universities, and other institutions. Food procurement specialists can source fresh food locally year round from one streamlined ordering system. Orders get delivered in one trip with one invoice.
We’re a nonprofit food hub based in Iowa City, partnering with over 70 regional producers to supply fruits, vegetables, meats, dairy, and grains to institutions and retailers across Eastern Iowa. We work with our growers to ensure consistent quality for every food hub order—many products are harvested within 24 hours of delivery to preserve their freshness as they make their way to your kitchen.
Everyone deserves access to fresh, locally sourced food from the region. Field to Family is proud to connect the farmers and producers with the chefs and kitchen teams preparing the meals consumed in cafeterias every day.

What Wholesale Customers are Saying
“It has been a real pleasure to work with everyone at Field to Family. We appreciate all of the fresh produce and the chance to let our students try new items. Our students have really enjoyed all the vegetables we have been able to prepare. The variety and quality have been outstanding. Our ability to support local farmers has just been an added bonus. We thank you for your work and for taking care of us.”
- Becky Risdon, Food Service Director, Williamsburg Community School District
“Sometimes it’s difficult to source a certain product or to stay informed about all the community growers have to offer, and that’s when a place like Field to Family can help so much. We’re all part of a local food system that can sustain each contributor’s livelihood and hopefully even help them thrive when given the opportunities to connect and learn from each other.”
- Katy Meyer, Chef, Trumpet Blossom Cafe
“We definitely see a difference between local and items that are brought in using conventional methods. The local items have a longer shelf life, as they are harvested just a day or two before being delivered to us.”
- Barry Greenberg, Former Executive Chef, University of Iowa
“Iowa City Schools is proud to partner with Field to Family to provide local produce and dairy to our students. Through our partnership, Iowa City Schools have increased the amount of locally-grown food on our school lunch menu annually since 2012.”
- Alison Demory, Nutrition Services Director at ICCSD
