How Ordering Works

Online ordering opens every Sunday at 5PM and closes at noon on Tuesday for pickup or delivery on Thursday. To receive weekly updates before the next shopping period begins, make sure you’re registered as a customer. Vendors add new products and inventory to our site each week.

When the ordering period ends, vendors receive a list of the items sold and begin harvesting and preparing the order. Field to Family staff and volunteers then pack the orders for delivery. Many of these products are harvested within 24 hours of delivery.

How the Online Market Began

In May 2020, Field to Family started the Online Market in collaboration with the Iowa City Parks and Recreation Department. Both organizations value local vendors and producers and wanted to make it easier for the community to access locally grown, fresh produce and products. Together, we provided access to a contact-free market in response to the coronavirus pandemic for the duration of the regular Iowa City Farmers Market season. Field to Family continues to provide this accessible local market option.

Interested in Becoming a Vendor?

Field to Family is always looking for vendors that can provide specific products our customers are requesting. For more information, contact Jessica Fogarty at [email protected] or 319-855-2649.

Reasons Vendors Love the Online Market

• It’s a more convenient way to sell products. Growers can deliver to one location for online market customers and bring wholesale orders for schools at the same time.
• It helps eliminate wasted food and effort.
• It gives vendors greater access to customers.
• It frees up farmers and growers to do other work without needing to be at a physical location to sell their products.
• Collaborating with Field to Family through the online market creates opportunities for growers to access other opportunities that support building a stronger, community based food system.
