Iowa City-area shoppers continue to have the opportunity to purchase local food and farm products online with contact-free pickup in November 2021 through Field to Family’s Online Farmers Market.
Field to Family’s second Online Farmers Market season continues to operate a successful venture by drive thru and delivery means. The last drive thru option will be held on Saturday, October 23rd at the Johnson County Health and Human Services (HHS) parking ramp on Clinton Street in Iowa City. To support Johnson County voters, Field to Family will only offer home delivery October 30th through November 20th. While the farmers market is an important part of the community, Field to Family honors the right to accessible voting for citizens of Johnson County.
As early voting ramps up, the normal distribution site will look different to veteran customers. Expect orange cones to guide the way around some storage sheds, leading you to your pick up of delicious local eats.
“The online market provides an additional avenue for us, as an educational nonprofit, to share food system education, encourage deeper connections to local growers and promote healthy, local foods,” said Field to Family director Michelle Kenyon.
The order window will open between noon Tuesday and noon Wednesday each week through the third Saturday in November. Home delivery is offered at no extra charge on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings.
Thirty vendors boast their artisan crafts in the virtual markets, offering produce, meat, dairy and value-added food products, some of which include All Seasons Harvest, Alpaca Fiber Arts, Ansel’s Awesome Sauce, Calico Farm, Grimm Family Farm, Organic Greens, Pickle Creek Herbs, Rapid Creek Ranch, Red Earth Gardens, Rehberg’s Pork, Rots Bounty Gourmet Fungi, Trowel and Error, Salt Fork Farms, Squier Squash, Twisted Oaks Meats, Urban Greens, Valerie’s French Cooking, Wasson Produce, Wilson’s Orchard & Farm, and Yotopia. Field to Family is welcoming new vendors to enroll as well.
