Field to Family Online Market Launches May 2, 2022

Field to Family will launch its 2022 Online Market with a new schedule following two successful seasons. Residents can expect locally grown foods from 28 local growers for the first week.

Online ordering starts Monday May 2, 2022 at 8 AM and closes noon on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 and weekly thereafter for Thursday pick up or delivery. Residents can continue to choose to receive free delivery from Chomp. In addition, Field to Family continues to accept SNAP as a form of payment.

Pick up this year has moved to Field to Family’s new warehouse location, along the mural at 1049 HWY 6 behind Pepperwood Plaza. Those picking up orders are instructed to turn from Broadway St and drive along the backside of the building to the garage door in the blue section of the mural.

The Online Farmers Market began in 2020 to maintain access between farmers and shoppers in partnership with the City of Iowa City Parks and Recreation Department. Due to customer and farmer demand, Field to Family continued to run the market independently.

“As an organization committed to expanding access to healthy and local foods in partnership with farmers, we want to do everything we can to continue meeting demand for local food and farm products in our community,” said Field to Family director Michelle Kenyon.

Field to Family serves schools and other institutions wholesale local foods year-round. Residents log in at orders.fieldtofamily.org weekly, choose from diverse seasonal crops and agricultural products. Customers will order on Mondays and Tuesdays, receiving their orders on Thursdays.

The work that Field to Family does to provide education in schools and to increase access to healthy and local foods received recognition last month. Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig awarded Field to Family a 2022 Ag Leadership Award. During his announcement, he says that “Over the 10 years of the Iowa Agriculture Leader Awards, we have recognized people and organizations that are making a difference for our farmers and rural communities,” said Secretary Naig. “I am proud to continue that tradition this year by recognizing outstanding leaders who champion conservation, build new markets for Iowa products and engage the next generation of agriculture leaders.”
