Food System Metrics

In order to evaluate success of our strategic food system plan we are working to collect data annually.

  • We are inventorying local food producers to evaluate local food availability and also the largest concerns to their viability as a local food producer or entrepreneur. Download our directory form
  • We are developing a quiz to conduct with consumers at regional farmers markets and local food fairs to assess their knowledge of food purchasing, preservation, and preparation. 
  • In order to establish a benchmark and set goals of local food purchased in the region we are surveying buyers (schools, restaurants, distributors, grocery stores, etc) on how many dollars they spent on local food in the last year. Take our Survey

In 2011 we surveyed local food buyers (restaurants, grocers, etc.) on how much of their food budget has been spent on local food. The graph to the right represents our totals from this survey.
