    List of Garden-Related Books for Kids | 101 Ways to Incorporate the Garden into Your Classroom
    The Northeast Iowa Food & Fitness Initiative put together a workshop for garden managers, food service directors, teachers and students. Attendees learned how to deepen the use of a school garden, best practices, and great ideas. We also had a chance to network with others on the best way to use the garden in the classroom, in the cafeteria, and beyond. We learned how to share the workload, and create a garden community in our schools.School gardens cultivate responsibility, teamwork, citizenship, sustainability, and respect for nature. They connect hard work and dedication to success. Gardens promote healthy eating habits and an active lifestyle. They also create interdisciplinary themes with math, history, science, logic….art, music and beyond!

    The Northern Iowa Food and Farm Partnership organized a workshop for farmers currently involved in farm to school or looking to learn more about farm to school opportunities. Attendees learned about the procurement process for schools, heard from farmers experienced in selling to schools, and found out how farmers can
    be involved in the educational component of farm to school.
